EU has exceeded its 2020 renewable energy goal
EU has exceeded its 2020 renewable energy goal: Europe has outperformed its renewable energy goal established for 2020.
Official data distributed by Eurostat shows that renewables made up 22% of its total energy consumption in 2020, surpassing its 20% goal.
That amount contrasts to only 9.6% in 2004.
Data from the statistical office of the European Union further reveal that Sweden with 60% had the largest share throughout the EU member states in 2020.
Sweden was followed by Finland & Latvia with 44% and 42% accordingly.
However, the lowest amounts of renewables were reported in Malta. Luxembourg & Belgium.
The analysis also inpected the national targets and discovered that 26 countries achieved or exceeded their 2020 target ranges.
Sweden, Croatia & Bulgaria surpassed their goals by as much as 11%.
On the other hand, France was not able to meet its target by 3.9%.
