Green hydrogen plant at port moving forward by Shell

Green hydrogen plant at port moving forward by Shell : Shell has chosen the German firm thyssenkrupp Uhde Chlorine Engineers to design, procure, and build a 200MW electrolysis factory.

The project will be developed in the Dutch port of Rotterdam, with production set to begin in 2024.

Sustainable hydrogenwill be manufactured for industrial clusters and the transportation sector, with electricitysupplied by the Hollandse Kust Noord offshore wind farm.

The wind turbine, which will be built by Shell and Eneco, is expected to be operational next year with a capacity of 759MW — enough renewable energy to power more than one million homes.

According to thyssenkrupp, the hydrogen produced would be transported via a pipeline that would run approximately 40 kilometers from the port plant to Shell’s Energy and Chemicals Park Rotterdam.
