Masdar joins TotalEnergies for green hydrogen & SAF: Masdar has signed a collective agreement with TotalEnergies to boost green hydrogen production and develop sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).
The contract to serve as a co-developer for a demonstrator plant project that will be set up at Masdar City which is Abu Dhabi’s leading sustainable urban development, was signed during the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2022.
Masdar reported the enterprise in 2021, with associates involving the Abu Dhabi Department of Energy, Etihad Airways, Lufthansa Group, Khalifa University of Science and Technology, Siemens Energy as well as Marubeni Corporation.
From January 2021, the collaborators in the initiative have finished a variety of evaluations on technology suppliers, feasibility studies & conceptual designs, at the same time working alongside regulators on compliance matters.
The goal is to advance to the front-end engineering design (FEED) phase later on in 2022.
The current partnership with TotalEnergies will see the company supply its knowledge in SAF production, offtake and equip the associated airlines.
“We are very pleased to partner with Masdar & Siemens Energy to meet the challenge of decarbonising air transport through sustainable aviation fuel from green hydrogen.
