Russian oligarchs Usmanov & Shuvalov sanctioned by UK

Russian oligarchs Usmanov & Shuvalov sanctioned by UK: Russian oligarchs Alisher Usmanov & Igor Shuvalov have reportedly received new sanctions by the UK Government.
The two are described as being worth a combined $19 billion (£14.3bn) & now the government has frozen both their assets as well as issued travel bans, due to their heavy interests in the UK and having links to the Kremlin.
Usmanov has been massively linked with English football clubs Arsenal and Everton as well as owning various UK properties, which include a £48m home in Highgate.
Shuvalov is further known to be a main part of Vladimir Putin’s inner circle, owning luxury apartments all over Central London.
Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has led to additional scrutiny on Russian oligarchs, more currently displayed in Roman Abramovich’s pursuits to sell Chelsea Football Club quickly, after a 19 year duty as owner of the Blues.

Together with these new sanctions, the total amount of Russian oligarchs sanctioned in the UK after the Ukrainian conflict increases to 13.
“Our message to Putin and his allies has been clear from day one, invading Ukraine would have serious & crippling economic consequences.
“Sanctioning Usmanov & Shuvalov sends a clear message that we will hit oligarchs & individuals closely associated with the Putin regime and his barbarous war. We won’t stop here. Our aim is to cripple the Russian economy and starve Putin’s war machine.” Foreign Secretary Liz Truss stated.
