Scottish Government is investing £8.7M in green infrastructure initiatives: The Scottish Government has announced a fresh investment of £8.7 million in eight green infrastructure projects.

Among the projects that will benefit include the building of a district heat network in Renfrewshire, west-central Scotland, that will use heat from a wastewater treatment plant.

The funds will also help to increase the number of new social housing in the Highlands by installing new air source heat pumps and energy-saving measures.

The government-backed initiatives are expected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by around 4,500 tonnes per year.

This is the equivalent of removing 2,000 automobiles from the road.

“Meeting our ambitious climate targets will require a rapid reduction in carbon emissions across our homes and buildings.” Said Zero Carbon Buildings Minister Partick Harvie.
